Whether you’re a social angler or a competitive angler, the Canberra Fisherman’s Club can cater for your needs. We offer six freshwater and six saltwater outings each year to encourage members to get together for weekend social fishing and to take advantage of Canberra’s proximity to the ocean, alpine lakes, and freshwater impoundment. These outings are also a great opportunity to pick up tips and tricks from your fellow members, or teach others a few yourself. We offer guest speakers, whether they be high profile professional fishing guides or local experts, at our month meetings.
If you like to fish competitively, your captures can count towards the Club’s annual awards such as Champion Angler, Saltwater and Freshwater Champion, or Saltwater or Freshwater Length-based competitions. The Club also has a range of trophies for junior anglers to encourage their enthusiasm for fishing and develop their skills. We also offer affiliation membership with the Australian National Sportfishing Association (ANSA). As an ANSA member, your captures can also count towards the NSW State Competition and you are eligible to set NSW State and Australian Records and World records (through ANSA’s affiliation with IGFA - the International Game Fishing Association).
CFC Membership is on a financial year basis. We offer half-price membership for new members joining after December each year. Potential members are encouraged to attend a meeting or two, or even an outing, to meet some of our members and get an idea of what the CFC is about.
